Pitt County Social Services Department Offers Free DNA Testing



(Pitt County, NC) – Child Support Services (CSS) of the Pitt County Department of Social Services will offer free DNA testing on August 12, 2021. Confidential testing will take place at Pitt County Human Services Center located at 203 Government Circle, Greenville from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All DNA testing fees will be waived and no appointment is necessary.

To participate in this program, paternity must be an issue, and parents are requested to bring government-issued ID and a birth certificate for each child.

Participants must apply for child support services and applications will be accepted the same day. Fees of $ 10.00 or $ 25 may apply.

“A critical step in the life of a child is determining the father of the child. Establishing a father’s legal responsibility for his child guarantees certain rights for the child, such as a greater sense of identity and possible knowledge of the father’s family medical history and social security benefits, insurance and military, ”says Sonya Scott, Pitt County DSS Establishment Supervisor.

For non-custodial parents who are unemployed or underemployed, a social worker from Pitt County Child Support Employment Services will be available to discuss the STEPP program. parents).

The STEPP program started in April 2021 and helps citizens with employment assistance, job search training, career exploration, vocational training, resume writing, educational support and help with tuition fees.
