Russell alleges that Kimora and her husband Tim leissner robbed him to cover their huge legal fees, Radar reported. According to the report, “Russell accused his ex-wife of stealing his shares of an investment to pay for her new husband’s legal fees and took legal action against the mother of his two children and her husband.”

As leGrio previously reported that Russell’s lawsuit against his ex-wife is linked to Celsius, a beverage company they both have invested in. Russell claims Kimora used the shares as “collateral for an obligation related to federal charges against Leissner.”

In 2018, Forbes reported that Leissner, a former Goldman Sachs investment banker, has been charged with money laundering and has pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy to violate the Corrupt Practices Abroad Act. In November of the same year, he agreed to pay $ 43.7 million into a victims’ compensation fund, according to the report.

In his trial, Russell’s attorney wrote: “Knowing full well that the accused Leissner would need tens of millions of dollars to avoid jail, stay on bail and forgo victim compensation, the accused have engaged in this blatant fraud to achieve this infamous and illegal goal. “

Russell allegedly tried to settle the case privately and, when that failed, he took legal action. The disgraced mogul said his actions were frozen by the government amid Leissner’s legal drama.

Kimora countered Russell’s claims, saying she and Leissner were “allowed” to use the shares. According to court documents obtained by Radar, Baby Phat founder says Simmons can’t prove her fraud claims, so she wants her lawsuit dismissed.

Kimora and Leissner previously responded to the complaint in a statement obtained by PEOPLE who said: “Kimora and her children are shocked by the extorting harassment from her ex-husband, Russell Simmons, who has decided to sue her for the stocks and dividends of the Celsius stocks in which Kimora and Tim Leissner have invested millions of dollars… this is Russell’s misguided attempt to use the legal system to access funds to which he is not entitled, and for which his own legal team confirms that Russell did not pay.

Russell’s continued aggressive behavior not only blatantly distorts the facts, but is simply a desperate public relations ploy ignoring the years of mental and emotional angst, gasping and continued harassment he has inflicted on Kimora. “, the statement continued.

In newly filed documents, Kimora’s attorney said: “By the time the defendants used the Celsius shares for duty in the federal case, Lee understood and believed the defendants were entitled to use stocks for obligation. “

According to Kimora, the shares are temporarily held by the government as security for her husband’s bond and will be returned.

Russell and Kimora were married from 1998 to 2009.
