Globe Studios’ critically acclaimed ‘Midnight in a Perfect World’ wins numerous local and international awards – Manila Bulletin

“Midnight in a Perfect World” Actress Glaiza de Castro Personally Accepts Best Picture Award at ToHorror Fantastic Film Festival 2021

Globe Studios and Epicmedia Productions have garnered numerous quotes from local and international award-winning organizations for their critically acclaimed futuristic horror film, Midnight in a Perfect World, proving its worth as both a masterpiece entertainment and as a work of art.

The provocative and must-see film was nominated in 11 categories at the 44th Gawad Urian and won the award for best sound for Corinne De San Jose. It also won 10 grand prizes at the 28th Annual Philippine International Film Festival of Filipino Arts and Cinema (FACINE), including Best Picture Gold and Best Director Gold for Dodo Dayao.

“Although he is one of the favorites of film critics in this country, I think Dodo is still criminally underestimated. His visions of horror and science fiction are so unique and powerful that he truly ranks among the best in the world. I’m glad that a year after its release, just like the darkness of this movie, Midnight was able to infiltrate and capture the consciousness of moviegoers around the world, ”said Quark Henares, Director of Globe Studios.

One of Italy’s oldest festivals focusing on fantasy and horror films, the TOHorror Fantastic Film Festival, awarded Midnight in a Perfect World the prestigious title of “Best Film” in the “Feature Film Competition” category , while the Canadian festival Fantasia International The Film Festival awarded him the AQCC Prize – Special Mention of the Camera Lucida Jury 2021 “for his progressive affirmation of a cinematographic identity”.

Director Dodo Dayao said, “That’s not why you do things, of course, awards, nominations, all that, but I would be lying if I said they weren’t flattering. And because we were deprived by the pandemic of a gala, an after party, this kind of catch-up in a way, like a group hug between the team, the cast, the staff, everyone, to the end of the screening. It makes me want to do the next one even more.

Set in the utopian city of Manila, the film revolved around four friends who were caught in one of the mysterious blackouts where people disappeared without a trace. Although they believe the stories are a hoax, they are about to find out what is lurking in the eerie darkness as they hide in one of the “safe places”.

Critics have described this best-selling QCinema International Film Festival 2020 film as “one of the best of the year”, “disorienting”, “intense” and “well put together”. It has a compelling story, top-notch production, and a solid cast consisting of Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Glaiza de Castro, Anthony Falcon, Dino Pastrano, and Bing Pimentel.

Midnight fulfills Globe Studios’ vision to be home to films that “come from authentic voices and are made by real creators.” Globe Studios is an entertainment production company that has been telling stories on silver screens, black boxes and portable devices since 2016. It prides itself on being creator-focused and daring with its content.

The next screening of the film is scheduled for November 12 at the Molins Horror Film Festival in Barcelona, in the Videocrome section. Other Filipinos can also watch the movie at fdcpchannel.ph where it is available through a subscription for just P99 / month or P999 / year.
