It’s time to polish those resumes, as one of the region’s largest in-person trade shows is about to take place.

The Dort financial center will be the site of one of the biggest job fairs for some time. The Flint & Genesee Group, in partnership with the City of Flint and the Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce, will host the Genesee County Career Expo. The event is designed to help employers find work and job seekers find jobs.

Scheduled to be the region’s largest in-person career fair, organizers have already registered more than 30 employers representing around 650+ job postings for the big event.

“There are almost 15,000 people actively seeking employment in Genesee County – and that doesn’t even include those who are underemployed or looking for a career change,” said Brianna Mosier, Director of Organizational Development at Flint & Genesee Group. said in a press release. “At the same time, we know that there are thousands of job vacancies available at our local businesses and organizations. Our goal is to help bridge this gap.

If you are looking for a new job, this event is exactly what you have been waiting for. The Genesee County Career Expo will take place on September 16 and will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Job seekers will find employers at companies such as Ascension, Ashley HomeStore, Hamilton Community Health Network, Hurley Medical Center, Lear Corporation, Mac Pizza, to name a few.

More than jobs

Additionally, the career fair will also highlight resources available through community agencies that can help overcome common barriers to employment, including childcare and health issues. There will also be everything from vaccinations to free haircuts available to job seekers during the event.

The organizers recommend that applicants register by Tuesday, September 14 at flintandgenesee.org/jobfair, but walk-in visits are welcome. Employers still have time to participate in the exhibition by registering by filling out the form at flintandgenesee.org/careerexpo by September 10.
