McHENRY – Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Garrett College recently partnered with the Western Maryland Consortium to provide soft skills courses to youth in Garrett County.

The mission of the Western Maryland Consortium is to provide information, education and skills training services to unemployed or underemployed adults, youth and displaced workers residing in West Maryland.

As part of the Summer Youth Work program for 14-24 year olds, participants were required to attend a three-day soft skills workshop offered in partnership with the Garrett College Continuing Education and Workforce Development division.

The course, Soft Skills for the Workplace, is designed to provide students with an overview of the basic behaviors, etiquette and protocols that a person needs to communicate effectively as a professional and be an effective employee in the workplace. job.

The course also provided instruction on how to create a resume, cover letter, and conduct an effective job search and interview.
